School of Motion

This is the final project I created for School of Motion’s Animation Bootcamp, “Be The Ice Sculptor”. The brief was to take all the principles we learned in the last 12 weeks and apply them to a 1-minute animated video that poses this important question: What is more valuable, learning the tools of the trade or learning the craft?

The wonderful folks at School of Motion provided the storyboard, script, and audio. I worked on the animation and illustration, taking care to preserve most of the visual elements from the original concept (such as color choices, backgrounds, and text boxes). Here is a look at some of the storyboard scenes featuring my illustrations and font choices.

Huge thanks to Adam Osvald, my teaching assistant, whose discerning eye and invaluable critique helped take my work to the next level; to all the TAs who shared resources, inspiration, and words of encouragement; and to Joey Korenman for putting together a supportive community where creatives like myself could explore, learn, and grow.
